Crossfield Minor Soccer Association is Organizing a Girls Power Weekend this September 2025!
Aug. 05, 2025
WELCOME TO GIRLS POWER WEEKEND: WHERE CONFIDENCE, COMMUNITY, AND SOCCER COME TOGETHER!
This fall, Crossfield Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) is proud to launch something truly powerful — the inaugural Girls Power Weekend, a one-day celebration created for girls, by a community that believes in them. From grassroots to growing greatness, this event is designed to ignite passion, build belonging, and keep girls in the game — for life.
Across Canada, we’ve heard the call: girls are leaving sport too early. Crossfield Minor Soccer Association is answering that call with bold action. Girls Power Weekend is our commitment to change — to give girls the support, visibility, and opportunities they deserve.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This weekend is for every girl who has ever laced up a pair of cleats and dreamed bigger.
Whether your daughter is 5 years old and just starting to explore the world of soccer or she’s 15 and chasing new goals — this event is for her.
It’s also for:
Parents who want to empower their daughters
Women who are curious about coaching
Girls interested in becoming referees
Anyone ready to stand up for the future of girls in sport
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
We’ve built a full day packed with fun, learning, inspiration, and community, tailored by age group to make sure every girl gets the right mix of joy and empowerment.
SOCCER FESTIVALS
U5, U7, U9, U11, and U13+ girls will hit the field in festival-style soccer fun — no pressure, just play, teamwork, and smiles.
PLAYER WORKSHOPS AND INFORMATION SESSIONS
U9-U11 Girls: Confidence-building, fun mental tools, and how to be proud of who you are.
U13+ Girls: Dealing with pressure, body image, leadership, identity, and how to stay in the game.
PARENT WORKSHOPS
We’re inviting parents into the conversation too. Two important sessions will guide parents on how to support their daughters in sport, including:
Navigating the emotional and social needs of girls in sport
Recognizing burnout and building long-term motivation
COACHING AND MATCH OFFICIAL WORKSHOPS
Women in Coaching: A space for women to ask questions, get advice, and explore becoming a coach
Intro to Match Officiating: A hands-on workshop to introduce girls to the world of refereeing — and help them see themselves in the role
KEYNOTE INSPIRATION
The highlight of the day? A visit from Calgary Wild, Calgary’s own professional women’s soccer team! These elite athletes will be speaking directly to our girls — sharing their stories, struggles, triumphs, and how they stayed the course.
SWAG, FOOD, AND COMMUNITY VIBES
We’re working hard to ensure every girl leaves not just inspired but also celebrated. Expect swag bags (while supplies last!), delicious food, music, and memories to last a lifetime.
If you are aware of a company that would like to contribute to this event, please have them reach out to crossfieldsoccer@gmail.com
The more support we can get, the better we can make this first event memorable. Remember, this is being organized by the Girls Power Weekend Team, 100% volunteers who believe in the call to action.
JUST THE BEGINNING…
This is just Year One. Girls Power Weekend will grow into a 2-day event starting in 2026, and become a cornerstone annual tradition in our district in Crossfield.
While the event takes place in Crossfield, it is open to all communities across the district. If you have a girl who plays soccer — she’s invited.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Girls Power Weekend is about more than a game. It’s about standing together to say: Girls belong in sport. Girls deserve support. Girls matter.
