Good morning everyone!
In regards to the U11 division (and all of our divisions), if the clubs (and district) has the numbers, we will be having all-girls and all-boys teams. The competitive (travel) divisions within BCSA are not COED. Since the pandemic in 2020, we have had a reduction in numbers in registrations which has led to some confusion about our divisions. Tier 4 (all of our travel) are either girls or boys teams. If you have a boy on a team it is a boys team regardless of how many girls are on that team. This is why there is such a drive from us (and ASA) to start pushing for all girls teams starting with the U11 divisions since that is where our numbers are the strongest. If we have 4 clubs that can support all-girls teams, then we will be running an all-girls U11 division. Right now we have Olds, Didsbury, Crossfield and Cochrane that have all-girls U11 teams so we will have U11 girls division this outdoor season. I am hoping that as registrations draw to a close, there will be more clubs with all-girls and all-boys teams. Hopefully by pushing this we can start having U13 all-girls teams in the next 2 years. I am also not opposed to having close proximity communities merge to create all-girls and all-boys teams. To reiterate; if your club has the numbers to support an all-girls and all-boys U11 team, your club will separate the teams into all-girls and all-boys teams.
